There is already a gallery on this site named "Southern Veracruz Coast". This new gallery encompasses the adjoining Tabasco coast as well as the Campeche coast of the western Yucatan. It includes inland sections of the western Yucatan, and much of the State of Chiapas. Southern Mexico is so different from the central and northern areas, both coastal and altiplano. The Yucatan Peninsula is unique in its own way. If one had to isolate what accounts for these differences, it would be altitude, latitude, and particularly rainfall. Parts of southern Mexico receives about 70% of Mexico's total rainfall. This is less a photo tour than an attempt to give you the viewer a sense of flora and topography, and eye candy for the curious.
